Ekaterina Khodzhaeva is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Rule of Law at the European University at St. Petersburg and at the Institut d’études avancées de Nantes. Trained as a sociologist at Kazan State University, her research focuses on the legal profession, law enforcement, and the criminal justice system in Russia. She has conducted extensive empirical work on police practices, defense lawyers, and jury reforms, including field research in rural areas and participation in national crime victimization surveys.
She has held fellowships at the University of Bremen (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation) and Harvard University’s Davis Center (Fulbright Program), and her work bridges sociology, law, and empirical legal studies.
