Kaja Gadowska is a Professor of Sociology at the Jagiellonian University and President of the European Sociological Association (2024–2026). Her research focuses on democratization, the public sphere, and the intersection of politics, economy, and administration in post-communist countries, with particular expertise in Poland’s coal industry and government administration.

She has led and contributed to numerous national and international research projects and is the author of award-winning publications on political clientelism and administrative dysfunction. Professor Gadowska has held visiting positions at institutions across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and serves on editorial and advisory boards in the field of sociology of law.
