Robert  Chang

Robert S. Chang is Professor of Law and the Sylvia Mendez Presidential Chair for Civil Rights at UC Irvine School of Law, where he serves as Executive Director of the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality. He is a leading scholar on race, interethnic relations, critical race theory, LatCrit theory, Asian American legal studies, and civil rights. Chang founded the Korematsu Center in 2009 at Seattle University School of Law, where it became a major hub for research, advocacy, and clinical education before moving to UC Irvine. He is the author and editor of several influential books, including Disoriented: Asian Americans, Law and the Nation-State, Minority Relations, and Banned: The Fight for Mexican American Studies in the Streets and in the Courts, and has published more than 60 articles, essays, and book chapters. An elected member of the American Law Institute, Chang has received numerous national awards for his scholarship, teaching, and civil rights advocacy.
